Vytautas Magnus University (VMU) warmly invites the Transform4Europe alliance community and beyond to participate in a celebration of cultural and linguistic diversity, marking the UN-declared International Mother Language Day on February 20-21. Under the theme “My tongue is my uniqueness: dare not to disappear,” VMU will host a series of engaging events both online and on-site, culminating in a unique hybrid trans-alliance event designed for seamless participation from partner universities across Europe.

Call for enrolment in undergraduate study programmes of the university of primorska in the academic year 2025/2026

In the framework of the Call for Enrolment in undergraduate and unified master's study programmes in the academic year 2025/2026, the University of Primorska announces the following free enrolment places for 30 undergraduate study programmes (7 higher professional and 23 academic study programmes): 1.545 enrolment places for Slovenian citizens and EU citizens, of which 1.225 are for full-time study and 320 for part-time study, 76 enrolment places for Slovenians without Slovenian citizenship, of which 60 are for full-time and 16 for part-time study, 207 enrolment places for citizens of Western Balkans countries, with which the Republic of Slovenia has a bilateral agreement in the field of education (Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, Kosovo, Serbia, North Macedonia), of which 185 are for full-time and 22 for part-time study, and 76 enrolment places for foreign citizens of non EU countries, of which 64 are for full-time and 12 for part-time study.

T4EU Bachelor Tracks spring 2025 offer published, registrations are open

With the University of Primorska joining Transform4Europe as a full member of the European University, new opportunities are opening up to broaden the knowledge of both UP and other students from T4EU member universities. Bachelor Tracks is a set of courses developed each academic year by T4EU members and offered to students as electives or additional courses. Registrations for the spring 2025 in the academic year 2024/2025 is open. All undergraduate UP students can choose up to 24 ECTS of electives or additional courses from the "Bachelor Tracks", which they can take at other T4EU member universities in online and/or hybrid format.

After having already reported on two new projects, we have now received another one that will further enrich our research activities. Under the leadership of Assoc. Prof. Katja Hrobat Virloget, the Faculty of Humanities of the University of Primorska acquired the international CERV project RE 4 Healing: Crossborder Remembrance, Reconnection, Restoration and Resilience. This is an innovative interdisciplinary project in which anthropologists, historians and psychotherapists from the border areas of Slovenia, Italy and Austria will try to contribute to the reconciliation, reconciliation and healing of border societies traumatised by the difficult border history (fascism, Nazism, World War II, Istrian exodus).

Exploring Human Rights: Approaches and Challenges in Anthropological Perspective

World Human Rights Day, which has its roots in 1948 when the United Nations General Assembly adopted the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, will also be celebrated on December 10 at the Faculty of Humanities of the University of Primorska. On this occasion, we will host Dr. Barbara Gornik, a research associate at the Science and Research Center Koper and an assistant professor at the Department of Ethnology and Cultural Anthropology at the Faculty of Arts, University of Ljubljana. The public lecture, titled Researching Human Rights: Approaches and Challenges from an Anthropological Perspective, will take place on Tuesday, December 10, at 14:40 in lecture room Levant 4.

Prof. Dr. Aleksander Panjek newly elected Dean of the UP Faculty of Humanities

The newly elected Dean, Prof. Dr. Aleksander Panjek, will take over the leadership of the UP Faculty of Humanities on April 11, 2025. At the faculty, he is a lecturer in the Department of History and Vice Dean of Education, but his main research interests are economic history and rural history.

UP symposium on gender equality for an inclusive university and society

On Friday, 15 November, the second symposium on gender equality for an inclusive university and society, entitled Gender Equality, Equity and Inclusion in Academia, took place within the framework of the Green, Digital and Inclusive University of Primorska (GDI UP) project. The symposium once again brought together a number of experts and researchers from the fields of gender equality, social sciences, humanities and educational sciences working on inclusive practices in academia. The symposium focused on key challenges relating to gender equality in educational institutions and in society more broadly, and on finding effective solutions to address inequalities in academia.
