Single-discipline undergraduate (Bachelor`s degree) study programme

About the Programme

The study is oriented towards learning and understanding historical processes and obtaining an up-to-date knowledge. At the 1st level students will be acquainted with historical interpretative methods and research topics. The objective is to apprise the students with a general insight and education in historical science, to develop their critical approach and their comprehension of the most significant turning points and processes in European, Mediterranean, World and Slovenian history. A special attention is dedicated to the social, cultural and economic dimensions of history studies.

The graduates will obtain theoretical and practical knowledge with a possibility to work in environments, which require broad-minded and knowledge about social and cultural problems, phenomenon and processes on local, national and international levels.

The graduates will be able to be employed in research institutions (co-workers and project work), governmental and non-governmental organizations and institutions home and abroad, in political parties, in international political organizations, in the field of culture (cultural management, employees in museums, archives) and in consulting organizations in the field of culture (employees in tourism).

0222 History and archaeology

Admission Requirements

Admission to the first year of study programme History shall be granted to the candidates who have:

a) passed the general matura examination;

b) passed the vocational matura in one of the four-year secondary-school programmes that is
classified in:

– KLASIUS-P-16 classification: broad area 02; or
– FORD classification: area 6; or
– ARRS classification: area 6; or
– CERIF classification: areas H or S;

and also passed a final examination in one of the general matura subjects: History, Art History, Geography, Sociology, Economy, Philosophy, German, Italian, Latin, History and Theory of Theater and Film; the selected subject cannot be the same as the subject passed in the framework of the vocational matura;

c) successfully completed any four-year secondary-school programme before 1 June 1995.

In Case of Enrolment Limitation

the candidates under a) and c) are selected according to:

– overall performance in the general matura or final exam respectively: 70 % of points awarded,
– overall performance in secondary grades 3 and 4: 30 % of points awarded.

the candidates under b) above are selected according to:

– overall performance in the vocational matura: 40 % of points awarded,
– overall performance in secondary grades 3 and 4: 30 % of points awarded,
– the performance in the selected general matura subject: 30 % of points awarded.
