Prof. Dr. Ali Abdelhalim Ali, General Director of the Egyptian Museum in Cairo and Prof. Dr. Irena Lazar, Dean of the UP Faculty of Humanities and representative of the UNESCO Chairs at the Slovenian National Commission for UNESCO, opened the exhibition “Yugoslav Participation in the UNESCO Nubian Campaign”, which presents the work of Slovenian conservators, architects and photographers in the rescue of archaeological monuments in Nubia, prior to the construction of the Aswan High Dam.

The second exhibition “Milan Kovač: The Pioneer of Heritage Science in Egypt” provides an insight into the work of the architect Milan Kovač, who, during the course of his work in Egypt, developed a number of innovative projects for the protection and presentation of Egyptian monuments. The authors of the exhibition, Prof. Dr. Jan Ciglenečki, Prof. Dr. Abdelrazek Elnaggar and Miha Smolič, invited architect Kovač to Cairo to give a detailed presentation of his projects and their implementation in a lecture after the opening of the exhibition. The opening was also joined by the Deputy Ambassador of Slovenia in Egypt, Ms. Polonca Flego.
