On January 22-23, 2025 professors from the Faculty of Humanities of the University of Primorska visited Belgrade, where the first meeting of the project “GreenHeritage – Nurturing a sustainable future in the gardens of time” took place in the Institute of Archaeology.
The two days kick-off incorporated the following activities: developing a strategy for the future realization of all the project’s work packages; setting up project teams and roles; covering questions of communication and dissemination; planning activities while considering risk management principles. On the evening of the second day a guided tour to Sv. Sava was organized to conclude the visit.
The aim of the GreenHeritage project is to integrate cultural heritage, specifically at archaeological parks, with teaching young generations about sustainability through transforming archaeological parks into classrooms. This goal aligns with the European Green Deal’s vision for a resource-efficient and climate-neutral Europe. Through the GreenHeritage project, the silent narratives of past civilizations will empower us to trace humanity’s journey, reflecting ancient social, economic, and environmental practices with direct implications for today’s climate challenges.
