On Monday, September 22, 2025, a five-member delegation from Renmin University of China visited UP – prof. Zheng Shuiquan (Vice Chair of the University Council), Prof. Di Dongsheng (Dean of School of Global and Area Studies, Vice Dean of School of International Studies), Prof. Hua Jianguang (Executive Dean of Institute of Chinese Civilization), Prof. Wang Xiangruii (Deputy Director of International Office, professor of Agriculture and Rural Studies) and Dr. He Jing (Coordinator for European Affairs, International Office).

Accompanied by Prof. Neva Čebron (UP FHŠ), representative of Confucius Classroom Koper, they were first welcomed at the UP Rector’s Office by UP representatives: Prof. Dr. Michaël Mrissa, Vice-Rector for Internationalization, Aleš Oven, Senior Advisor to the Rector, Andreja Pobega Bizjak and Žiga Leban from the UP International Office.

The first part of the meeting was devoted to discussions about possible opportunities and ways of cooperation and networking at the academic level between the University of Primorska and Renmin University. Afterwards, the hosts showed them the Confucius Classroom in Koper and they learned about its activities aimed at intercultural integration, Chinese language learning, and the promotion of Chinese culture in the region.

The Renmin University of China (RUC) is a public university in Haidian, Beijing, China. Currently it consists of 25 schools, 13 research institutes and the graduate school, that jointly implement 353 different programs.. The university library has 2.5 million holdings, and is recognized as the Information Center of Arts Literatures by the Ministry of Education. The Renmin University of China Press is one of the most famous publishers and the first university press in China which has published a large number of academic works in humanities and social sciences. Renmin University has established its communications and cooperative relationships with 125 universities and research institutions of 32 countries and regions, which enables the university to be the center of academic and cultural communications between China and foreign countries.
