The meeting of the UNESCO Chair in Interpretation and Education for the Promotion of Integrated Approaches to Heritage took place at the University on February 22, 2022.
Among the participants were the minister Prof. Dr. Simona Kustec, the Rector of the UP, Prof. Dr. Klavdija Kutnar, Ana Luiza Massot Thompson Flores (UNESCO Regional Bureau for Science and Culture in Europe) and Gašper Hrastelj (Slovenian National Commission for UNESCO).
The encouraging words of the Dean of UP FHŠ, Prof. Dr. Irena Lazar were followed by four lectures by invited speakers: Matteo Rosati (UNESCO Regional Bureau for Science and Culture in Europe, Italy), Špela Španžel (Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Slovenia), Günter Köck (Austrian Academy of Sciences, Austrian delegate to UNESCO MAB-ICC in Vienna) and Prof. Dr. Darko Babić (University of Zagreb, President of ICOM ICTOP).
The meeting concluded with the presentation of the UNESCO Chair’s planned activities for 2022, that include guest lectures on museology, an International Summer School on Museology in Piran, a workshop on participatory approaches in the conservation of built heritage, a workshop on traditional knowledge and heritage management in the Carpathian region and workshops for educators to integrate heritage themes into the classroom. As part of the Researchers’ Night workshops in the Mythical Park in Rodik and in the Archaeological Park San Simon will take place.
