On 4 December 2025, the Faculty of Humanities of the University of Primorska hosted the second awareness-raising event within the Disaster Journalism project, funded by Erasmus+ EU and coordinated by Selçuk University (Türkiye).

The event focused on the crucial role journalists play when reporting during disasters, crises, and emergency situations. The introductory presentations of the project and the Disaster Journalism Textbook were delivered by Karmen Medica and Lia Lola V. Kotnik from the Department of Media Studies, UP FHŠ.

The keynote guest, Eugenija Carl, an experienced journalist from RTV Slovenia, discussed the realities of journalistic work in demanding and unpredictable circumstances, the challenges of field reporting, media responsibility, verification of information, and the role of public service media in crisis situations. She particularly highlighted the importance of professional, ethical, and trustworthy journalism, which becomes indispensable in critical moments for ensuring public safety and understanding of events.

We will continue with the next awareness-raising event in the project very soon.
