Study presentation

The Communication and the Media study program represents an upgrade and a logical continuation of studies at the first level. The program maintains the theoretical and methodological core represented by communication science, as well as the emphasis on humanistic, social science and technological content, whereby the theoretical emphasis is complemented by practical knowledge.

Within the framework of the program, great emphasis is placed on employability on the labor market, whereby the media sector is mainly characterized by the crisis of the traditional media industry. This is manifested in the decline of traditional media, the absence of trust in journalistic work, the decline of permanent forms of employment and the need for new knowledge, skills and creative approaches in the field of media. The transition from classic mass media (print, radio, television) to new technological media (web, social/social networks, DIY communities, etc.) requires the introduction of content-based new areas that, on the one hand, demand the expansion of the concept of the medium, and on the other, practical work in these areas. The goal of the study program is to offer male and female students the necessary content and practical knowledge that will enable them to successfully operate independently in the field of communication and media under changed circumstances.

At the same time, within the scope of the study program, a lot of attention is also devoted to a critical consideration of communication in modern society and its role in understanding, interpreting and constructing the world in which we live. The study program will not only train male and female students for theoretical and practical work in the field of media, but also contribute to their personal development and, last but not least, the formation of autonomous critical-thinking subjects.

Applications for transferring between study programmes are considered by the relevant Commission. In accordance with the Criteria for transferring between study programmes the Commission takes into account the comparability between study programmes and study obligations the candidate has completed in the previous study programme, that can be recognized in this study programme. The candidate may also be required to complete differential exams as defined by the relevant Faculty Commission.
