Call for international study exchanges under the Erasmus+ KA171 programme
The Erasmus+ programme allows students to study at a higher education institution abroad for a specified period. It offers them the opportunity to gain international experience, become familiar with a different educational environment, culture, and language, and expand their knowledge and skills.
This call is intended for study abroad in partner countries of the Erasmus+ programme and supports both long-term and short-term student mobility. The number of places is limited per country – up-to-date information on which institutions you can undertake your mobility at can be found in Annex 1.

The University of Primorska is also a member of the Association of Universities of the Adriatic-Ionian Region (UniAdrion), which facilitates collaboration between universities and research centres to strengthen international cooperation and promote the advancement of culture, science, training, and research in the Adriatic-Ionian region (Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, Greece, Croatia, Italy, San Marino, North Macedonia, Serbia, and Slovenia).
More information on international traineeship opportunities can be found on the UniAdrion website.

Submitting an application
On the right-hand side of VIS, select APPLICATION FOR EXCHANGE, then choose the academic year and semester in which you wish to go on the exchange.
List of partner institutions abroad
- If the University of Primorska (UP) already has a Bilateral Agreement with the chosen institution – notify the international office of your faculty of your mobility intention by 10 April (for a traineeship in the winter semester) or 15 August (for a traineeship in the full academic year).
- If UP does not yet have a Bilateral Agreement with the chosen institution – submit your application via VIS at least 2 months before the planned mobility and inform your faculty’s international office. The application must include the VIS application form and the Traineeship Programme signed by all three parties (see Annex 1 of the call).
Filling in the online application form
It is recommended to begin filling in the application only when you have all the necessary information and documents prepared.
IMPORTANT: Once the application has been submitted, it cannot be submitted again.
After submitting the application
You can review your submitted application in the menu APPLICATION FOR EXCHANGE – Review Application.
Selection
Submitted applications will be evaluated by the appointed selection committee at the respective faculty of UP. Candidates will be notified in writing of the outcome.
Students who apply for the Erasmus+ programme and are approved by their home faculty will be regularly informed via their student email about all further procedures, the amount of Erasmus+ funding, opportunities for additional scholarships, foreign language courses, and online language preparation.
An Erasmus+ student is not automatically entitled to Erasmus+ funding and must apply for financial support in accordance with the current call.
Erasmus+ financial assistance co-funds the costs of studying abroad and does not cover all expenses. The exact amount is specified in the Erasmus+ Grant Agreement, which the student signs after submitting the application documents.
A student receiving Erasmus+ funding may still be eligible for any national scholarship, staff scholarship, Zois scholarship, etc. In addition to Erasmus+ funding, students may apply for Additional Support for Students with Fewer Opportunities, including extra support for students with special needs.
Monthly Erasmus+ funding amounts for each group of countries are as follows:
Group 1 – Programme countries with higher living costs

Short-term mobility under the Erasmus+ KA131 programme
Blended Intensive Programmes (BIPs) are short, intensive programmes organised by higher education institutions abroad, using innovative teaching and learning methods, including mandatory online participation. Part of the programme is conducted in-person, and part virtually.
Physical mobility lasts from 5 to 30 days, and participation in the virtual part is also compulsory. Students must obtain at least 3 ECTS credits through a combination of physical and virtual participation in the BIP.
The application period is open-ended, starting from the date of publication of the call and continuing until funding is exhausted, but no later than 31 May 2027.
Students are generally expected to submit their application at least one month before the application deadline of the selected BIP.
