At the ceremonial session of the City Council of Mali Lošinj, held on 11 November 2025 at the Museum of Apoxyomenos, annual awards and recognitions were presented for contributions to the development of the city and the wider island community of Mali Lošinj.

For their outstanding contribution to the popularisation of archaeology and the promotion of professional and scientific work in the field of archaeological research in the town of Osor and on the island of Lošinj, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Martina Blečić Kavur and Prof. Dr. Boris Kavur received the Mayor Ana Kučić Award »Coat of Arms of the City of Mali Lošinj for 2025«. Their dedicated work, expertise and enthusiasm have brought the archaeological heritage of Osor closer to the wider public and inspired new generations to take an interest in archaeology – an achievement of inestimable importance for the Lošinj community and a lasting value for future generations, as emphasised at the award ceremony (https://www.youtube.com/live/XW6sEhIFxYE?si=JL98WzVbqzRj6lB7).

This is the first award given for the promotion and popularisation of archaeology in the town of Mali Lošinj, and it also reflects the long-standing collaboration with the Lošinj Museum and its director, Zrinka Ettinger Starčić, who on this occasion received special recognition from the City of Mali Lošinj. In their joint work to date, several national and international projects have been carried out, and a current international multidisciplinary project is focused exclusively on the archaeological heritage of Osor – Osor Beyond the Myth, financially supported by the Slovenian agency ARIS (N6-0292) (https://osorbeyondthemyth.com/). Numerous scholarly studies and several books have been published, and the wider public has been presented with 16 exhibitions, as well as numerous lectures at European universities and in various museums.
