The Faculty of Humanities was established in 2000 and became one of the founding members of the University of Primorska three years later. It offers study programmes at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels and is actively engaged in scholarly and professional activities within the fields of social sciences and the humanities. Its operations are guided by values that ensure quality: excellence in study programmes, competence of academic staff, professional development and well-being of students, effective collaboration within the university as well as at national and international levels, and the employability of its graduates.

UP FHŠ will continue to strengthen and develop its teaching and research endeavours, aiming to become widely recognised for its modern, high-quality, and interdisciplinary study programmes. These programmes offer a broad range of options, enabling students to tailor their studies to their individual interests. The faculty is also distinguished by the nationally and internationally recognised research contributions of its academic staff and students, with a particular focus on the unique cultural region of the northern Adriatic part of the Mediterranean, as well as the broader Slovenian and international contexts.

At UP FHŠ, we contribute to the sustainable development of society by fostering open-mindedness, new knowledge, collaboration, and respect for diverse perspectives. Students are actively engaged in the educational process and research. They acquire knowledge in the humanities, social sciences, and the arts through open dialogue, contemporary teaching methods, project-based work, and practical training beyond the institutional setting. This approach enables them to develop into well-rounded, critical, and responsible individuals. The integration of insights from various disciplines, combined with the experience of a multicultural, multilingual, and open Mediterranean environment, provides students with additional opportunities for independent and active participation in society.
