March 26, 4:20 PM, Maestral 4.
During World War II, an unprecedented number of women in Yugoslavia joined the partisan units in the National Liberation Struggle. Many of them provided care for the sick and wounded—including doctors, nurses, pharmacists, and other auxiliary staff. The lecture will examine the development of the Partisan medical service and shed light on the unique wartime experiences of women, ranging from those directly involved in combat operations to those on the periphery.
The lecture will be held in English.
