In the early morning hours, the students were first divided into two groups based on their prior knowledge and age—beginners were introduced to characters, greetings, and numbers, while those with prior knowledge learned terms for objects in their surroundings and focused more on characters—both reading and writing them. In the afternoons, they made craft projects and tried their hand at Chinese street games that their peers enjoy. To ensure the most authentic exposure to Chinese culture, visiting Chinese teachers once again played a key role this year, introducing the students to their culture, language, and customs in their own unique way. This rounded out the program led by sinologists Anja Ahčin and Dr. Katja Simončič, the summer school directors, along with Chinese language teacher Xu Yidan.
The learning experience brought not only new knowledge and insight into Chinese culture, but also new friendships and bonds formed each year. At the end of the week, the students proudly presented their knowledge and creative work to their parents, relatives, and friends at a short event.
