Participants focused on continuing the search for the new ways to incorporate sustainability into cultural heritage conservation.
Programme Highlights:
- Medina Azahara: The Caliphate City – A visit to the archaeological site of Medina Azahara to explore its historical, cultural, environmental, and architectural significance both in the past and in the present.
- History and Legacy of al-Andalus – Visits to the Mosque-Cathedral, the Jewish Quarter, and more, to reflect on Córdoba’s rich Andalusian heritage.
- Engagement with local organizations – Meetings with local partner associations of Casa Árabe Córdoba to learn about their initiatives in intercultural dialogue, sustainability, and heritage-led community development.
The Green Heritage project aims to integrate cultural heritage, specifically at archaeological parks, with teaching young generations about sustainability. Hence increasing the capacity for environmental stewardship and heritage conservation across Europe was one of the main objectives of the visit.
