The lack of opportunities for young people in heritage science and related disciplines led to the initiative to organize an international conference of young heritage researchers. Led by HeriSci – the Association of Young Experts in Heritage Science of Slovenia and in collaboration with the Faculty of Humanities of the University of Primorska, the conference was held on April 10, 2025 at the University of Primorska and brought together more than 60 students and young researchers from Slovenia and abroad – both in person and virtually. The conference opened with a panel “Contributions of cultural heritage to sustainable development goals”, followed by presentations of 25 research projects that showed the outstanding potential of the next generation of professionals.
Guests, including Dr. Aleš Musar (Office of the President of the Republic of Slovenia), Mr. Janez Kastelic (Director of the Ljubljana Marshes Landscape Park Public Institute), Assoc. Prof. Zrinka Mileusnić (UP FHŠ), Prof. Matija Strlič (UL FKK) and Ms. Dubravka Kalin (Director General of the Directorate for Tourism, Ministry of the Economy, Tourism and Sport), had an opportunity to discuss their work and share opinions on the importance of heritage on the path to a better future.
